Gabriela Calvache stands out for her feature film “La Mala Noche” (2019), which premiered at SXSW and won 14 international awards. As a director, she focuses on stories of social minorities and environmental issues, aiming for wide audiences and social impact through genre cinema. She co-directed “Adentro,” which was presented in the Official Competition at the São Paulo Short Film Festival. Her short film “En Espera” (2011) was nominated at Oberhausen and selected for the Berlinale and IFFR. She is the first Latina woman to be included in the Universal Studios Directors Program (2020).
