Alejandro Salgado was born in Los Palacios (Seville) in 1982. He has a degree in Media and Communication and History of Art from the University of Seville. In 2016 he directed the documentary film “Bolingo. El bosque del amor” premiered at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA), which won several awards, both national and internationally as DOCSMX, LANZAROTE, ALCANCES, SHORTSMX or CINEMA VERITÉ IRÁN. In 2019 he directed his first feature film, “Barzaj” premiered in Spain at the Seville European Film Festival (New Waves -non fiction- competitive section) where won DELUXE SPAIN AWARD Competitive section’s Best Director.
“Barzaj” international premiered was in International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) and also in IndieLisboa, Biografilm Bologna, IBAFF, VDFF Vilnius o FIDBA Buenos Aires, where had an special mention in New Narratives Section. FInaly won CARACOLA for BEST FILM in ALCANCES Documentary Film Festival in Cádiz (Spain).
In 2020 this project “The Heights” won III Animario Award – Plaza Río 2 projects production award.
