Daniel Sánchez Arévalo is a Spanish director, screenwriter, and novelist. He began his career in television and short films before making his feature film debut with Dark Blue Almost Black (2006), which won multiple awards, including three Goyas. He later directed films such as Fat People (2009), Cousinhood (2011), and Family United (2013). In 2019, he released Seventeen on Netflix, and in 2022, the series The Girls at the Back, further establishing his sensitive and humanistic style. Additionally, he has built a successful literary career with novels such as Alice’s Island, a finalist for the 2015 Premio Planeta. Pollywogs is his twentieth short film. More or less.
