Patrik Thomas studied media art, stage design and sculpture at the art academy in Munich, Lisbon, São Paulo and Leipzig. He works primarily as a filmmaker, media artist and pedagogical educator. Teaching experiences include the Applied University Munich, Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig as well as ten years of experience organizing MOVIMENTO, a collaborative film residency in Portugal. His works have been shown internationally at festivals, biennials and in solo and group exhibitions. He is a winner of the Leonhard & Ida Wolf Prize of the City of Munich, the German-French Art Prize for the film installation HOTEL DESTERRO 2017 and the 25th Video Art Prize 2018 of the City of Bremen. His short film TAIWASTE won the FFF award at the Regensburg Short festival in 2020.
